We are delighted to announce that the Connex and Buxton Street by Street partnership will be extended!  Following another successful bid to The National Lottery Community Fund, we have been awarded funding to enable us to continue our partnership with Buxton Street by Street until the end of April 2022.

This is wonderful news.  Even though some of the original work Street by Street were coordinating with their fabulous volunteers, like support for those who were shielding, is not needed quite so much now, the focus is switching to the social, economical and mental health impacts of the pandemic and multiple lockdowns.   We know there is still lots of work to be done to help the community of Buxton to recover.

“The scope of what we – our volunteers – have achieved has completely taken our breath away. To start from scratch to build up a network of around 300 people, at a time of such uncertainty is something of which we are very proud”, said Anna, Claire and Caitlin, “We are now looking to see how we can harness this amazing network to leave a positive, lasting legacy for our town”.

Connex Chief Executive Gill Geddes commented, “We are overjoyed to have been able to support and work with Buxton Street by Street in this way.  It shows the power of what working together can achieve for our community and has proved to be a really successful collaboration”.

So congratulations to Claire, Caitlin and Anna and all the volunteers – here’s looking to the next nine months of our partnership!
