Equipment Hire

We can provide wheelchair loans and hearing loop hire. We also distribute hearing aid batteries from our Buxton office to NHS patients who receive their care from Chesterfield Royal Hospital only.

We have a number of manual wheelchairs, including bariatric chairs, available for hire to anyone living in the High Peak and surrounding areas, as well as Ashbourne, and the Derbyshire Dales.

Will it cost me anything?

• Our wheelchairs are available for loan with a £20 deposit which is fully refundable.
• The hearing loop costs £10 per hire.
• Hearing aid batteries are free of charge to Chesterfield Royal Hospital patients.

How do I get referred for hearing aid batteries?

For hearing aid batteries, you must be referred by Chesterfield Royal Hospital  and will have either a brown hearing aid log book, or white log card which you will need to present when requesting batteries at our Reception.

How do I arrange a wheelchair loan?

Wheelchairs are available for hire at both our Buxton and Ashbourne offices.

We recommend that you contact us by phone in order to check availability. We can then arrange for you to drop into our Buxton or Ashbourne offices to pay the deposit and pick up the wheelchair.

We welcome anyone who wishes to hire our wheelchairs but please be aware that the loans are intended to be short term only.  This is usually two weeks.  However, in some circumstances we can extend this by arrangement, if you telephone the office you originally collected the wheelchair from.

Our wheelchairs are suitable for a maximum weight limit of fourteen stones.  Bariatric chairs, available by request, will support a maximum weight of thirty two stones.

How do I arrange a hearing loop hire?

Please phone the office in advance to book the hearing loop. It is held at the Buxton office, but we will be able to transport it to the Ashbourne office given enough notice.

How do I arrange to collect my hearing aid batteries and where can I collect them?

You can drop in at the Buxton office at any point during our opening hours to pick up hearing aid batteries. Please remember that you will need to bring your log book or card in order to be allocated batteries.
