At Connex, we’re passionate about helping everyone live their best life in the community. For many older and vulnerable people, that means giving them a way to get out and about when they can’t access their own or public transport. From trips to the hairdresser, visits to loved ones, attending clubs, or just staying connected with friends, our Social Transport Service makes these moments possible.
Last year alone, almost 300 people were helped this way, including groups and wheelchair users as the service can offer two accessible vehicles, one of which a 16-seater minibus!
These trips make a world of difference, but now this essential service is under threat as from 1 April 2025 Derbyshire County Council will withdraw grant funding we currently depend on to cover our costs. The people this service helps will not be able to afford an increased charge so we are calling on you to help us plug the funding gap.
Here’s how your donation can make a difference:
- £18 will cover three life-changing journeys for someone in need.
- £45 will support the daily operation of the service.
- £115 will provide twenty journeys
We will be grateful for any donation so that we can keep vulnerable people connected, active, and independent. Last year, when Connex faced a similar challenge with our Readycall Befriending Service, your incredible generosity kept it going. We’re hoping you can help again!
Please consider donating or sharing this appeal with others who care about making a difference. Together, we can keep our community connected and ensure no one is left isolated or lonely.
